There are improvements over the last version of the game though. Since driving a tractor round a field accounts for more than half the game taking that out of the equation leaves you with nothing but the limited appeal of watching the artificial intelligence get confused over the concept of a straight line. In the end, the most desirable extra for your farm is hiring other people to drive your vehicles for you. The tractors handle like waste silos and nothing you do requires any skill or expertise. But it wouldn’t matter so much if working the field was in anyway fun or enjoyable, but it’s not. That may actually be the most realistic element of the game, although we don’t wish to cast aspersions on the day-to-day life of the average tractor driver. There’s plenty to unlock as you accrue more funds – including new tools, vehicles, and, for the first time, livestock – but earning more money takes hours and hours of the same dull, repetitive actions. But there’s no complex trading system, just a bunch of dealers who never really reward the effort of shopping around. The rest of the game has you trundling around with the sweat of your brow in the trailer behind you, trying to sell your produce.
